Recipe: SMOOTHIE BOWL
Smoothie bowls are a huge food trend and we've given 'em a SORTED spin. We've got three great ideas that'll help you suss how to make them. They taste amazing and are healthy. Avocado for days.
Ingredients
Base
- 1 banana
- 150 ml almond milk
- 2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
- 1 tbsp decent honey
- 4-5 ice cubes
Green Version
- 1 avocado
- 1 handful of kale
- 1 tbsp matcha powder
- 1 lime
Red Version
- 250 g frozen mixed berries
- 1 lemon
Yellow Version
- 2 mangos
- 1 tsp root ginger, grated
Step 1
MAKE THE BASE
Make the base by blending the banana, almond milk, peanut butter and honey with the ice cubes.
Step 2
GREEN VERSION PREP
Blanch the kale in boiling water for 1 minute then refresh in cold water to cool. Scoop out the flesh of the avocado.
Step 3
GREEN VERSION BLITZ
Toss the blanched and cooled kale, spinach, avocado and matcha powder into the base in the blender. Juice the lime into the blender. Blitz it until it’s really thick and smooth.
Step 4
DECORATE
Chop up the dark chocolate and the almonds into slithers. Arrange all the toppings over the smoothie bowl all artistically. (Remember to take a top down photo.) Serve up your breakfast. Take another photo.
Step 5
RED VERSION
Blitz the frozen berries and lemon juice into the base in the blended then decorate as before.
Step 6
YELLOW VERSION
Peel, destone and chunk up the mango then blitz into the base int he blender along with the grated ginger. Decorate as before.
