Smoked Mackerel Paté
Mackerel is one of the best fish you can eat as it is high in omega 3, which keeps your heart healthy. This mouth-watering smoked mackerel pate is so easy to do you can barely call it a recipe... ideal as a fancy starter, a packed lunch or on a picnic.
- 1/2 lemon
- 300 g smoked mackerel fillets, skinned and boned
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 tbsp softened butter
- 1 handful fresh chives, chopped
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 3 mixed peppercorns
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 chunk crusty bready
Prepare Pate Mix
Zest and juice the lemon and put in a food processor with the mackerel, cream cheese, butter, chives and black pepper.
Blitz until you have a smooth paste.
Divide Mixture Into Dishes
Spoon the mixture into small individual serving dishes and smooth over the top with a hot knife.
Garnish The Top
Decorate the top of each dish with a trio of peppercorns and sprig of rosemary before allowing to set in the fridge.
Serve with crusty bread and a pile of pickled red cabbage.
Serves 4 as lunch, 6 as a starter.
