Ginger Ale And Apple Crush
Having a BBQ or picnic this weekend? Don't forget to pack your punch! This is our homemade ginger ale (the quick cheat's version) transformed into an awesome icy drink.
- 150 ml water
- 1 lime
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 2 tbsp root ginger
- 1 handful ice cubes
- 1 l fresh apple juice
- 150 g caster sugar
- 1 l soda water
- 1 bunch mint
Make The Syrup
Heat the water and sugar in a pan, along with the cinnamon stick and the peel of a lime, to dissolve the sugar.
Bubble for a minute or so then remove from the heat.
Infuse The Ginger
Allow to cool slightly before added to the grated ginger, leave the mixture to infuse.
Strain through a fine sieve to give you an awesome ginger syrup.
Add Soda & Mint
Dilute the syrup with ice cold soda water and stir in a handful of fresh mint leaves.
Add Apple Juice
Squeeze plenty of fresh tangy juice from a handful of apples.
crush some ice.
Fill a glass up about 1/3 of the way with the crushed ice.
Add one third apple juice and one third ginger ale.
Stir one and serve immediately.
