Recipe: Masala Chai (Tea)


This has been claimed the SORTED Masala Chai... a clever blend of spices and black tea creates this sweetened hot milky drink.


  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 2 black teabags
  • 4 tbsp caster sugar
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 black peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
Infuse the milk

Step 1

Infuse The Milk

Pour the milk into a saucepan along with the tea bags, sugar and spices, then heat to a gentle simmer. Remove from the heat and leave to steep for 10 minutes.

Strain through a sieve

Pour the hot infused milk through a sieve and into a jug to remove the tea bags and spices.


Step 3


Serve small cups of the chai whilst it's still warm, otherwise reheat to serve.
