THE BEST PHILLY CHEESESTEAK EVER

by Jamie

This is my re-creation of a Philly Cheesesteak, using suggestions from you on Twitter! It might not be completely traditional, but it is ABSOLUTELY BANGING! If you're making this at home, it's really easy to swap out any ingredients with ones that you prefer... Let me know know you get on!

INGREDIENTS

STEP-BY-STEP-GUIDE

CHOP CHOP CHOP

Slice up your onion and pepper into... Well, slices! Once the steak is cooked, mix in the peppers and onions then split the mixture into two parts, either side of the pan. Now slice your cheese and place it on top of each mixture... How much cheese? How much do you like? Haha!

SWEAT BABY SWEAT

Sweat off your onions in a frying pan with a shot of oil for a couple of minutes before adding in your green peppers and let them get all slimy and sweet and caramelised!

TOP STEAK TIP

Wrap your steak in some cling film then put it into the freezer for 30 minutes - this will help firm it up and make it easier to slice! (Guess what the next step is!)

BIT MORE SLICING!

Once removed from the freezer, slice your steak very thinly before seasoning with some salt and pepper.

FRY THE STEAK

I know you've been waiting for this bit... Move your onions and peppers over to one side of the pan, then put a bit more oil in the empty side. Throw your steak in here and wait for the smell to hit you! Cook it for 3-4 minutes until cooked.

LET'S GET CHEESY

Once the steak is cooked, mix in the peppers and onions then split the mixture into two parts, either side of the pan. Now slice your cheese and place it on top of each mixture... How much cheese? How much do you like? Haha!

NICE AND TOASTY

Whilst the cheese is melting, slice your sub rolls in half and place under a grill for a couple of minutes to toast.

BUILD THIS MOTHER

Scoop one of the steak/cheese/onion/pepper mixtures into the open sandwich... Then eat it with your mouths!!
