Recipe: Olaf Sushi From Frozen
Mike and Ben have wanted to do a Frozen themed FridgeCam for while... and we're glad they did. This is a winner and so simple for you to make at home. Olaf from Disney's Frozen is perfect for sushi and awesome in a packed lunch!
- 2 peppercorns (eyes)
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 chunk carrot (nose)
- 6 nori sheets
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 rind brie (teeth/eyes)
- 250 g sushi rice
- 1 tbsp caster sugar
- ¼ tube wasabi paste
Rinse & Cook The Rice
Wash rice under cold running water and drain several times until the water runs clear.
Drain the rice and put into a pan with a tight fitting lid with 350ml of cold water.
Bring to the boil with the lid on.
Simmer The Rice
Turn the heat down as low as it’ll go and simmer for 10 minutes then remove from the heat and leave to stand for 15 minutes. Do not remove the lid throughout as the trapped steam is what best cooks the rice but do occasional shake the pan.
Flavour The Rice & Cool
Dissolve the salt and sugar into the vinegar and mirin and stir through the rice after the 15 mins.
Transfer cooked rice to a bowl and allow to cool.
Shape Olaf's Body
Using slightly damp hands roll snowballs. (You need one large one for his lower body, one slightly smaller for his upper body and two even smaller to act as legs.)
Shape Olaf's Features
Shape a head for Olaf with the same amount of rice as his lower body.
Take time to to cut facial expressions from nori sheets.
Carve a nose from carrot, teeth and eyes from the rind of Brie and arms by wrapping rosemary stalks around a nori sheet.
Construct olaf on a bed of mixed salad and make his expression as happy and warm as possible.
