Recipe: Gochujang Bacon Sandwich Manmosas
I made a cocktail recipe for a bacon sandwich battle then stuck a bacon sandwich on top. It is a delicious combination.
- 1 ea fresh red chilli, deseeded and finely diced
- 50 g runny honey
- 25 ml light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 25 ml water
- 1 tbsp soft light brown sugar
- 2 tsp gochujang
- 10 rashers smoked streaky bacon
- 2 ea sesame seed bagels
- 1 handful ice
- 75 ml wheat beer
- 75 ml prosecco
- 50 ml vodka
- 100 ml orange juice
Preheat The Oven And Make The Sauce
Preheat the oven to 200ºC. Combine all of the ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan over a high heat. Bring it to a boil and reduce for 10 minutes. Set it aside.
Cook The Bacon
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and lay out the bacon over the tray.
Separate half of the sauce into another bowl for later and brush the rest over the bacon.
Cook the bacon in the oven for 12-15 minutes, until golden and crisp.
Assemble The Sandwiches
Slice across the bagel to get two slices and toast in a griddle pan to crisp up and get char lines. Spread the sauce on the insides of the bagel. Layer the bacon onto the sauced side of the bagels and sandwich with the other sauced side.
Cut them in half and thread onto a skewer.
Make The Drinks And Serve
Fill two tall glasses with ice. Mix the beer, prosecco, vodka and orange juice, then pour it over the ice. Stir well.
Carefully place the skewer into the glass so that the bacon bagel stack sits on the rim.
Makes 2 drinks and sandwiches
