What can I say? These are probably the best thing you'll taste on the day you make them. Maybe even the best thing all week. Perhaps the best thing you put in your mouth for a month. It could be that a year goes by without you tasting anything so good.
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 kg chicken wings
- 1 tsp Ginger powder
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
- 1 tbsp gochujang
- 2 tbsp peanuts
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 lime
- 1 Spring onion
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp gochujang
Make The Marinade
In a large mixing bowl combine the gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar and lime juice. Add the cornflour, garlic powder and ground ginger and stir until well mixed.
Marinade The Chicken
Tip the chicken wings into the bowl and toss well. Leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
Cook The Chicken
Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Heat a frying pan over a medium heat and add the butter.
When the butter is foaming add the chicken. Toss them in the butter and leave them alone to brown well, only turning once one side is browned.
When the chicken has caramelised all over stir in the gochujang, honey and chilli flakes. Toss everything together and put the pan in the oven for 20 minutes.
Garnish And Serve
Carefully remove the pan from the oven and add the ground peanuts and sesame seeds.
Plate up the wings and scatter over the spring onions.
