Recipe: Gluten Free Giant Sausage Rolls
Jumbo sausage rolls, totally gluten free and delicious. Great to eat warm but I slice them up to have as my lunch at work!
- 2 Eggs (one for filling, one for glaze)
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 400 g Silly Yak Gluten Free Ready to Roll Pastry
- 400 g Gluten Free Pork Sausage Meat
- 1 tsp Dried Sage
- 2 Small Onions
Finely chop onions and gently fry until soft. Add 1 tsp dried sage to onions. Combine sausage meat, onions and 1 beaten egg together in a mixing bowl.
Roll out pastry on a floured surface. Roll out to a long rectangle, (use lots of flour on your surface as gluten free pastry can get very tricky to handle if it starts to stick).
Season sausage meat. Arrange sausage meat in a long line down the length of the pastry, about 2 thirds across.
Roll Up, Roll Up
Brush eggs wash down the side of the pastry to act as glue when rolled. Then roll the pastry over and secure together.
Once the sausage roll has taken shape, cut in half to fit easier in tray and score the top. Egg wash the tops and put in oven at 160 (fan) for 45 minuets.
Remove from oven when golden brown and cooked through. Enjoy hot or cold!
