So freakshakes are a thing huh? Here's our first take at one. It's apple pie flavoured. Literally... there is basically an apple pie in this shake. Our advice is: 1. Share it 2. One is enough for about 6 months. Don't say we didn't warn you ok?
Peel and slice the apples into around 2mm slices, cutting around the core. Toss them in the brown sugar. Heat the butter in a frying pan over a medium heat and when it’s bubbling add the apple slices. Cook, stirring every so often until the apple begins to soften and caramelise all over. Add a teaspoon of lemon zest and one squeeze of lemon juice to the pan, then remove from the heat. Transfer the apple to a plate and leave it to cool.
To a blender add the milk, ice cream, shortcrust pastry, cinnamon powder and the apple slices. Blend to a thick, smooth milkshake.
Mix the dulce de leche with a little water until it’s a consistency that can be drizzled. Cover the rim with the dulce de leche and dip into some shortcrust pastry crumb. Drizzle the dulce de leche around the inside of the jar.
Pour the milkshake into the large jar. Whip the cream to soft peaks and transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle. Pipe the cream over the milkshake, right up out of the top of the jar.
Top the rim with a doughnut, then fill in the rim with more whipped cream. Delicately place a mini apple pie onto the whipped cream, then poke a straw through the pie and push down into the shake.
