Recipe: Banana Crumble


Have you got a bit of a sweet tooth but always feeling guilty after tucking into a dessert? Well this healthier crumble is perfect for you. Our recipe is packed full of banana, oats and wholemeal flour and is served with creme fraiche instead of custard.


  • 50 g brown wholemeal flour
  • 30 g porridge oats
  • 30 g cold butter
  • 4 tbsp Demerara sugar
  • 4 bananas
  • 1 sultanas
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp crème fraiche
  • 1 squeeze honey
  • 3 drop(s) vanilla extract

Preheat Oven

Preheat an oven to 180°C.

Make Crumble Mix

Put flour, porridge oats and butter into a bowl and rub with fingertips until it resembles lumpy breadcrumbs and then mix in 3 tbsp of the sugar.

Prepare The Bananas

Slice the bananas thinly and place half into 4 individual eared sur la plate or one large dish.

Sprinkle with sultanas, cinnamon, the remaining sugar, a splash of water and a tiny knob of butter. finish with the rest of the bananas.

Top with your crumble mix.

Bake In The Oven

Bake in the oven for 20 minutes until the topping is golden and bananas are squidgy.

serve with crème fraiche

Serve With Crème Fraiche

Mix the crème fraiche, honey and vanilla in a bowl and serve dolloped on the crumble. serves 4
