Recipe: Edible Chocolate Easter Nest
This recipe is fantastic to make with little ones over Easter. Using chocolate, fruit, nuts, shredded wheat and pretzels you can create a nest which is extremely realistic yet delicious to eat! Fill it to the brim with mini eggs. Yum.
- 300 g dark chooclate
- 8 shredded wheat biscuits (200g)
- 100 g salted pretzels
- 200 g mixed seeds and nuts
- 1 tube of mini-eggs
Melt The Chocolate
Snap the dark chocolate into a bowl over a pan of simmering water and melt until smooth and glossy, stirring occasionally.
Add The Crunch
Rip the shredded wheat up, trying to maintain long strands and add to the chocolate.
Roughly crush the pretzels and add to the bowl along with a generous handful of the seeds and nuts.
Stir, Shape And Chill
Stir the mixture together to coat everything in chocolate then tip out onto a silicon matt or baking paper lined tray.
Compress into a nest like shape, with a solid base and slightly higher walls, making it as compact as possible so that it sticks when it sets.
Scatter with extra seeds, then chill in the fridge for at least an hour to set solid... it might need longer.
Remove form the silicon matt and serve as a whole nest with a handful of mini-eggs in the nest.
