You CAN have your cake and eat it too. Who said you can’t?
Cake, glorious cake! It’s just not the same getting a shop bought one. Birthdays… anniversaries… a leaving do or even just a good old knees up (you can have cake at any occasion obvs) can be made that little bit more special with these glorious recipes.
1. GIANT DOUGHNUT CAKE
If a giant slice of vanilla chocolate doughnut cake doesn’t get the party started I don’t know what will. Buttercream and melted chocolate make for a wonderful combination over a giant doughnut. This is any kid’s dream so be sure to give it a go if you’ve got any little ‘uns coming over.
2. BANANA, WALNUT AND COCONUT CREAM CAKE
A loaf cake, like this beautifully decorated one, can be a great option for a celebration. Scrummy, soft flavours with a fancy frosting can lift everyone into high spirits. Take a leaf out of Holly’s book and use fresh flowers to give it that extra oomf. Nana will love it.
3. RASPBERRY VICTORIA SPONGE CAKE
There can be nothing nice than waking up to a classic Victoria Sponge Cake on your Birthday. Treat someone special with this British classic. Remember to grab a slice and face plant it yourself before it all goes…
4. CINNAMON SWIRL BUNDT CAKE
A bundt cake is the height of sophistication without causing too much trouble in the baking process, thanks to the awesome shaped tin. This has a chewy texture with insane cinnamon flavourings. A mix between a cinnamon bun and a cake. Where do we sign up to eat it all?
5. PEANUT BUTTER CUP CAKE
Are you looking at the top of that cake? Are you looking? Whole peanut butter cups, M&Ms, butter cream and chocolate sauce ALL together? You’re seeing it right. It’s a true feast to behold and essential for any peanut butter loving crazy person out there.
6. THE MOTHER OF ALL CHOCOLATE CAKES
Dark, rich, chocolate cake with excess of silky smooth ganache. Every cook needs a decent chocolate cake up their sleeve and pssst! I think this might be the one! The cross section of the layers in each slice of this cake is just wow. You’ll fall over.
7. CARDAMOM CAKE WITH WHITE CHOCOLATE AND ROSE BUTTERCREAM
There’s something special about this girly cardamom rainbow cake. The buttercream and candied rose petal decoration is simple yet crazy effective and the flavourings in the cake make for an exotic combination. You can imagine getting down to this with a giggle and a glass of bubbly.
