This super simple salad was created in the Waldorf Hotel, New York City. The combination of ingredients is just as delicious now as it was back in the 1800's and takes just minutes to make!
We've added a little dijon mustard to the dressing for that extra kick and served the dish with some easy garlic prawns.
core the apples into chunks, leaving the skin on, and put in a large mixing bowl.
zest and squeeze the lemon into the bowl.
peel, wash and slice the celery thinly.
chop the walnuts and halve the grapes, adding both to the bowl with the celery.
mix the mustard and mayonnaise together in a small bowl and then stir into the chopped salad.
stir the chives into the salad along with a pinch of salt and pepper to season.
serve the salad in a large bowl, ideal with a few skewers of garlic prawns.
serves 4.
