There are so many food guidelines that it’s hard to keep track of them all. You often find advice such as the NHS saying “you should eat three portions of fish a week to increase your omega 3” sliding into your ‘to do list,’ because it’s just too darn difficult to fit it into your life style. This week’s meal pack offers three great dishes that are packed full of omega 3 and we might even sneak some of your five a day in there as well, so you can tick another thing off your list.
Omega 3 is mainly found in the oily fish you eat, it’s a fatty-acid that cannot be generated by the human body and is rumoured to give you optimal brain function (if you haven’t had your omega 3 this morning this means it will help you get the best out of brain, no matter how small). Fresh oily fish is often forgotten from our daily diets and is substituted by the omega 3 pills which are an extra expense and let’s face it; they aren't tasty! So instead of having an unnecessary pill you have to remember, why not rustle up some of the dishes in this week’s meal pack... they are quick, easy and a darn sight tastier than pills.
Why not try our Smoked Haddock Kedgeree? It contains the haddock that’s gonna pump you full of fishy goodness, has a handful of peas to cover some of your five a day and all with a great flavourful Indian taste. Or go for the Greek Salmon Parcels? Salmon is a firm favourite with many fish lovers, it’s easy to find and with this recipe it is just as easy to cook too, so you definitely can’t go wrong! Finally, Lemon Polenta Plaice gives you a brilliant way to tuck into this overlooked fish. Most people think that plaice is solely for the chip shop but this fresh and tasty recipe gives you a far healthier way to get the omega 3 into your family and is much more impressive on a date than food wrapped in newspaper. So there you have it, we’ve got you hook, line and sinker.
We will see you next week for another tasty meal pack.
Which fish has the biggest eyes?
The giant squid can have eyes as big as a basketball! That would make some mammoth Calamari.
