Wouldn't it be cool if we could tuck into a tasty plate of grub each evening without spending the usual amount on dinner? Well with the three recipes below you'll be using less meat to make dinner for 4... instead bulking it out with cheaper ingredients to keep your wallet happier.

5 chicken breasts
10 rashers of smoked bacon
Fruit and Veg
1 onion
1 head of celery
1 leek
bulb of garlic
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
1 large plantain
small punnet of chestnut mushrooms
fresh coriander
fresh chives
fresh parsley
Dairy
small tub of sour cream
1 tub of natural yoghurt (600g)
1 litre of milk
wedge of blue cheese
small block of cheddar (150g)
Dry Ingredients
a mug of American long grain rice (200g)
a mug of Basmati rice (300g)
jar of mango chutney (360g)
jar of ground garam masala
jar of curry powder
jar of paprika
small jar of mayonnaise
handful of flaked almonds
16 tubes of cannelloni pasta
Check you also have...
1 chicken stock cube
pinch of turmeric
few bay leaves
shot of oil
knob of butter
handful of flour
handful of breadcrumbs
This one's easy... pick the recipe you want to cook and crack on with... they are all self-contained.
1) How about cooking up enough of the Costa Rican speciality of Arroz con Pollo for 4 hungry mouths using just 2 chicken breasts and bulking it out with rice and veg. The plantain gives it an authentic touch.
2) Or maybe the smokey bacon Cannelloni where just 10 rashers of bacon is enough meat to flavour a hefty carb heavy meal for 4.
3) And if a simple easy curry is more your thing then this Mango Chicken curry will be spot on. It's so rich and creamy that you'll only be needing a small portion.
