Summer is fast approaching and I’m sure we are all dreaming of that idyllic holiday in the sun that beats the inevitable British rain. One of the top destinations in Europe is Italy with its promises of Mediterranean sunshine, superb culture and of course some of the finest grub the world has to offer.
Back in Blighty we love the Italian taste, with Spag Bol having become a British institution over the last couple of decades. Yet more and more people are swapping over ‘Mamma’s’ authentic taste for ready meals. In fact, Brits spent over £407 million last year on Italian ready meals alone. That’s-a crazy, eh??
Well, we just can’t get our heads round it because these ready meals are packed full of fat, salt and preservatives which drown out the flavours of fresh ingredients that Italian food is famous for.
Now we’ve all fallen on tough times recently so if you can’t get yourselves to Italy this year, SORTED will bring it to you with our simple fresh and flavoursome Italian meal pack. We’ll be providing recipes that have been lost in translation; teaching you to take a leaf from the Italians by making time to relax and appreciate the food we love, with the ones we love… Just like Mamma used to make, eh?
Our Ultimate Spaghetti Bolognese is as simple as any of the ready meals out there but, unlike the stuff off the shelves, it’s packed full of fresh ingredients and guarantees a superior taste to the packet stuff. Our substitute Mamma is also offering a Creamy Squash Gnocchi that tastes so good that you’ll think you’re dining al fresco in the heart of Rome. To top it all off we have ‘Romed’ (again with the awful puns, but deal with it!) around and found Bolognese Arancini, a twist on one of our favourite meals that the supermarkets just cannot replicate and pre-package.
We hope that these simple recipes will draw you away from the shelves and into the kitchen. Arrivederci for now, but be sure to give Mamma’s recipes a try.
How much money is thrown into the Trevi fountain in Rome each year?
Each year an estimated half a million Euros is thrown into the fountain, but don’t try getting in on a slice of the action as each year the money is distributed between various local charities.
