On Friday 18th November 2011 Feeding the 5000 returned to London, in Trafalgar Square, to demonstrate what can be done with wasted food.
Inviting everyone down to enjoy a free lunch, cooked up by hundreds of volunteers, the organisers highlight a huge food issue. A disgusting amount of perfectly edible food ends up in bins because it doesn't look as the consumer expects it should or it is distributed to ares that simply don't have the need for such volume.
The real challenge is for the population to be educated on how to get great results out of the the food off cuts.
Jamie and Ben took a trip to Trafalgar Square and grabbed themselves a free lunch. A tasty, healthy and nutritious bowl of vegetable curry and rice. Along with thousands of other londoners it was quite an eye opener to see what could be cooked up rather than thrown away.
