Wedding Food Around The World!

It’s wedding season which got us thinking about food, and weddings, but mostly food…

At SORTED we are pretty familiar with how British weddings work. A few people walk awkwardly in a straight line, kiss in front of everyone and then eat ALL THE FOOD. We wanted to know if this was the vibe everywhere else in the world. Turns out the whole ‘food is amazing’ concept is pretty universal.

As much as we love a good Wedding Cake, it’s come to our attention that many other countries and cultures do things a little differently, and by differently we mean more colourful and generally better. We asked the great people of Twitter what their foodie traditions around the world were and you guys came through with some absolute gems.

You guys told us that in Italy, confetti doesn’t mean little pieces of paper like it does in the UK. Italian confetti refers to sugared sweets and almonds that are given to guests and eaten at the reception, We’ll just have to remember not to start throwing them at the couple as they leave the service…

Of all the suggestions you guys sent in Puja’s really caught our eye. Proving the point that wherever you are in the world, the act of eating a vast quantity of food and celebrating together with friends and family is what’s important!

The sort of weddings I’ve been to tend to be moments of celebration but actually a lot a waiting around for people to take pictures and sort their outfits out. The idea of guests being fed ALL DAY is so excellent I’m frankly staggered we don’t do it at all weddings.

What wedding traditions do you have where you are from? Let us know on Twitter and Facebook!
