We like doughnuts, a lot. In fact, I would go so far as to say we LOVE doughnuts. Not only are they deep fried clouds of doughy joy but this week we thought we would step things up a notch and give you BRAND NEW RECIPES for not one, not two but SIX great filling ideas. I know, we spoil you. The great thing about all these recipes is you don’t actually have to put them in doughnuts at all! You could pour them on ice cream, tip them over a stack of waffles… or just drink them. We can’t recommend that, but you can’t deny it isn’t tempting…
Let’s start this saucy tour with a classic raspberry jam. This jam has got the delightful SORTED twist of a little zing of lime. Hmmm, so zingy…
We are not claiming that salted caramel is anything new. In fact, it’s been done so many times now it’s bordering on retro… Either way, there’s a reason things are popular, because they’re great. Give it a go!
Another classic combo here. You don’t have to put much coffee in your sauce to make it taste incredible. It’s mainly there to bring out the banging flavour of the chocolate, which it does, very well indeed.
4. ORANGE CURD
This orange curd is like lemon curd’s cheeky little brother. You think you know where you are with curd and then bam orange. It’s controversy to the extreme.
5. CHAI CUSTARD
In terms of sauces that will always taste immense, custard is a sauce you can rely on. No one in this world ever regretted custard. The whole Chai experience just takes this low-key sauce to another level.
What’s that you say? Black pepper?! There have been some great recipes uploaded by the SORTEDfood community recently with black pepper in all sorts of sweet dishes. So we did what any self-respecting person would do and stole the idea and passed it off as our own.
