The summer season calls for cool, refreshing mango and not much else. Did you know that it’s a fantastic ingredient to incorporate into your cooking? You can get really inventive with this amazing fruit. And here’s how:
1. In Hot Dishes
Mango really thickens and adds depth to dishes with sauce. It’s particularly delicious in curries as the spice contrasts beautifully with the cool, sharp, sweetness of the mango. Why do you think Mango Chutney is so popular at Indian restaurants? Try out this lovely Mango and Chicken Curry if you want to give it a go. Minimal effort required. It’s such a cheats meal.
2. In Salads
Salads don’t need to be fully savoury through and through. Adding mango is the best idea EVERRRR. It makes them that little bit more exciting. This recipe doesn’t stop at mango. With strawberries added to the mix, it’s a real fruit-salad. Boom. Boom.
3. In Drinks Other Than Smoothies
A mango smoothie is pretty darn standard these days. But have you heard of agua fresca? We’d go as far to say that it’s one of the most refreshing drinks out there. We tried it for the first time last year over in California and a beautiful relationship was born. As soon as we got back home we developed a recipe.
4. In Baking
We’re putting a shoutout to one of the most recent recipes we baked. The Mango Swiss Roll! A tropical version of any dessert always goes down a treat so this spin on a traditional recipe is so awesome.
5. In Popsicles
In the summer you freeze up anything to make a much needed popsicle in the warm weather. When exploring all the different flavours- give mango a go! It’s especially good if you throw in other exotic citrus fruits like passion fruit and orange. This recipe will show you how.
